Elphaba is now known as the Wicked Witch of the West and lives in exile in the forests of Oz. She continues fighting for the rights of animals whose voices have been silenced and tries to expose the truth about the Wizard. Glinda the Good becomes a public symbol of righteousness, living in the Emerald City’s palace and enjoying the privileges of her popularity. Under Madame Morrible’s instruction, she speaks to the citizens of Oz, assuring them of stability under the Wizard’s rule.
As Glinda’s fame grows and she prepares for her wedding to Prince Fiyero, she becomes increasingly troubled by her broken relationship with Elphaba. Glinda’s attempts to reconcile Elphaba with the Wizard fail, only deepening the conflict between them.
