32-year-old Polly lives alone. One winter night, a stranger woman comes to her claiming she cannot find her son's house. Polly lets her in, offers her tea, and tries to help, but the woman has different plans. She tells Polly that she will die that night unless she puts three things in the mysterious black box: something she loves, something she hates, and something she needs. Soon, the stranger leaves, leaving Polly alone with the box, and strange, inexplicable events start happening in the house.
